Hello Savador,
It is good to hear from you! I hope you are keeping safe and well as you continue your journey throughout South America. I would be very interested in speaking with you regarding your findings. I believe many of the regular readers of this blog would like to know too.
I have been involved with packaging and distribution of time and temperature-sensitive medicinal products for many years and since my retirement from Abbott Laboratories in 2005, I have focused my efforts as an advocate for improved global distribution practices for pharmaceutical and biologic products.
One of my latest projects is to gain a clearer understanding of medicinal distribution models within Central and South America. There is little understanding within the pharmaceutical industry of how this actually occurs. Their main efforts in distribution have been within North America and Europe, models they understand well. I will be meeting with pharmaceutical manufacturers, regulatory officials and distributors in Bogota, Colombia, this Spring to discuss the limitations of distribution of time/temperature-sensitive medicinal products due to geographic, network, governmental and infastructure challenges and what can be done to improve the process to ensure that pateients at the bottom of the pyramid recieve the safest, purest, most efficatious and highest quality medicines possible.
Please keep in touch. You can contact me directly at: kevin.odonnell@sca.com
Kind regards and safe travels,
Kevin
